is a monoterpene. The smallest of terpenes
It gets its name from Myrcia sphaerocarpa, a medicinal shrub from Brazil high in myrcene. (1)
Myrcene is described as having an earthy, fruity clove-like odor, but can be very pungent in higher concentrations, such as in heavily hopped beers. Not surprisingly, hops and cannabis are cousins, both members of the family Cannabaceae. (1)
It is found in very high concentration in sweet basil, hops, mangos and cannabis.
