IS ONE OF THE MOST NOTABLE TERPENES
α-pinene is the primary terpene found in pine trees which gives them their characteristic “piney fresh” scent.
It is most popularly used in ordinary household products, cleaners, and even turpentine (a solvent commonly used as a paint thinner) the average person may use it without appreciating that, as a terpene, it also has a variety of therapeutic properties. (1)
While α-pinene is the most familiar and commonly found terpene in nature and is found in pine and conifer trees, rosemary, and orange peels, β-pinene is responsible for the more earthy aromas such as those found in basil, dill, parsley, and hops. (1)
